Microphones: The Proximity Effect
In this video, the man talks about different microphones, what they are use full for, and how to get the best sound out of them. First he talks about the microphone on a video camera, he mentioned that this microphone sounded OK from a far distance, but the closer you got to the subject with the camera, the better the quality of the sound, sounded. Secondly they spoke about a handheld microphone which would give you the best sound, but was the most expensive and would get the best sound result from a few inches away from your mouth. Third was the lavalier microphone which is a microphone that attaches to someones shirt, this is a good option for people who are not doing very much movement and did not want to spend too much money. Finally was the shotgun microphone which was mainly for the person who could not have a microphone on the set. The way this microphone works is it attaches onto the top of the video camera you are you using for the filming.
