Dont Follow Your Dreams

An English prof from a university stated that following your dreams actually means waiting there for your dream to come to you. The prof mentioned that most kids are used to being given everything they ask for, so why can't their dreams be given. He said it's stupid how lazy the children are these days, a story he gave was a kid handed in a two page fully plagiarized right off the site essay, and he gave him a zero, but the university policy was that he wasn't allowed to give a zero, instead the English department got together and marked all the things that he didn't plagiarized, he related this to a criminal coming into your house and stealing all you jewelry and valuables, but in court the judge giving him credit for not stealing the television or computer. I agree with what this professor is saying because to many kids are not trying   for things, they are just being given to them with out any effort. Kids these days need to start working for what they want in life.

Teacher Tried ban pencils in school

A teacher in Massachusetts by the name of Wendy Scott, a teacher at North Brookfield Elementary school tried to ban pencils and pens in her classroom, to me this absolute nonsense, students need pencils/pens to do their classwork. The Massachusetts school board is distancing itself from this teacher because she never got permission from the board to enforce this rule and the school board thinks this is a ridiculous demand as well. The teacher mentioned to the reporter that as a kid she used to respect her pencils, pens and pencil cases, but her students are using these items to make weapons.

The teacher sent the following memo to all the parents of students in her class; Students would no longer be allowed to bring writing implements to school. It said pencils would be provided for students in class and any students caught with pencils or pens after Nov. 15 would face disciplinary action for having materials "to build weapons."

Als repeat as Grey Cup Champs

Yesterday, The 98th grey cup took place at commonwealth stadium in Edmonton, Alberta. The Montreal alouettes played the Saskatchewan roughriders for the grey cup last night. The alouettes won the game 21-18 in front of 63,317 fans and in freezing cold conditions. The Als are the first team to win the grey cup back to back since the Argos went back to back in 1996-97. This is the alouettes third grey cup since 2000.

Are we Digital Dummies?

In the video are we digital dummies?, it explained everything about us humans today, how we are addicted to technology, how technology is taking over our lives, and can not live with out our cell phones. It is true just about every person has a cell phone now a days, and a lot of people even have smart phones (Blackberry, iPhones). These phones have been causing a lot problems, people dyeing in car accidents from people texting or calling someone. There is even cases of people who drive busses and trains texting while they are on the job, causing them to get into accidents, with passengers onboard. Since these cases Canada has released a law that you can't be on your phone while your driving, you must either have a cell phone feature built into the car, or use a bluetooth headphone.

They has also been a case where a lady was walking down the street and the city had left a man hole cover off, she was texting not paying attention to where she was walking or what was in front of her, and she fell down the man hole. In washington, USA, two people have set a rehab centre for people who are addicted to their cell phones. Although people might think this is a good idea, it comes at a high price, $27,000 for a 90 day period.

New World #1

Early last week it was announced, there is a new world number 1 in golf. After the 1999 PGA Championship, Tiger Woods had been the world #1.... not any more. The new world #1 is Englishman Lee Westwood. People have been complaining that Westwood should not be world #1 as he mainly plays on the european tour, and has never won a major title. In this years Majors, Lee Westwood finished in the top 5 in 3/4 events, and has had several other top 10's on both the European Tour and the PGA tour. After much speculation, Westwood entered his first Tournament as world #1 at the HSBC WGC event in Asia last week. He ended up finishing 2nd with a four day total of 270 (18 under par) one shot back of Italian Francesco Molinari, proving to most golf fans, that he is worthy of the world #1 position.

Microsoft Kinect

Yesterday, Microsoft released Kinect. Kinect is much the same as the Nintendo Wii except you don't have to use a controller, you can do everything with your hands. The Kinect is available to Canadians for $150. There has been some speculation that there will be lost of lag and unresponsiveness with the Kinect because there is no controllers and it is all motion sensored. The Kinect has only been out for a day, and i haven't used it, but i am sure we will hear lots about it in the near future weather it being good things or bad things.
